Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
